T57 - $50 Keatinge & Ball

from the sixth issue, April 6, 1863

There is a bust of Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States, in the center. This type of bill was printed in black and green and has a green ornate reverse with denomination. Plain and watermarked paper (CSA block with wavy borderline) was used. Also, a J Whatman 1862 watermark was used (very rare).

These bills are overprinted at right end with month of issue, April 1863 to February 1864. They were printed without series and 1st Series. More than 50 plate letter (WA to ZA), paper and other varieties exist. If date overprints are included, the number is larger. 2,324,000 notes were issued.
