T56 - $100 Keatinge & Ball

from the sixth issue, April 6, 1863

A vignette depicting "Women of the South" as represented by Lucy H. Pickens is in the center. Two soldiers are to the lower left. A bust of George W. Randolph, Confederate cabinet member, is to the lower right. These bills have a green ornate reverse with denomination. Watermarked paper (CSA block letters with wavy borderline) was used.

These bills were overprinted at right end with month of issue, April 1863 to January 1864. These bills exist without series and in a 1st Series. The "2nd Series" is a spurious overprint on genuine notes originally issued without overprint. Unwatermarked counterfeits also exist. 8 plate letter varieties (A to D) were produced. There are also more than 70 date overprint varieties. 1,931,600 notes were issued.
