Comments:  The Krause-Mishler number listed under the heading "French Colonies" is KM 5.2. On the circulation and value of these lightweight coppers see the introduction. This is a more circulated example of the previous coin. The obverse legend translates as "Blessed is the name of the Lord." The arrow is the mark of Jean Lisard, chief engraver while the Acorn is the mark of Jean Donat, mintmaster. The reverse bears the mintmark H for La Rochelle. In FRANÇOISES there is a break as a dot in the center of the C. A comparison of the letters and numbers as well as the die breaks reveals this is a different die than the previous example.

Provenance:  From the Robert H. Gore, Jr. Numismatic Collection.
