The Tennessee State Capitol, Nashville, is in the center. There is a bust of Alexander H. Stephens, vice president of the Confederate States, to the lower right. Pink and black ink was used. These bills have a blue web reverse with denomination. They were printed on plain paper.

These bills were issued in 11 series and without series. More than 100 plate letter varieties exist (A to D), which include differences in flourishes above "Confederate States of America." 4,297,004 notes were issued (incomplete data).
