T11 - $5 Hoyer & Ludwig

from the second issue, July 25, 1861

A depiction of Liberty and an eagle is in the center behind a scroll upon which is superimposed the figure "5." A sailor leaning on a capstan is at the lower left. 72,885 notes of this type were issued, but not many exist due to poor quality of paper. This note comes with two plate letters (B and Bb) with "For" before "Treasr." printed. The ink on these notes is black.
