1623                           Lion Dollar - West Frisia

Obverse:  MO · ARG · PRO · CON       FOE · BELG · WESTF
    Reverse:  CONFIDENS · DNO · NON · MOVETVR · 1623 ·

    Weight:  414.7 g   (26.87 grams)                  Diameter:  41.6 mm

Comments:  On both sides several of the letters appear to have been overstruck in the die. Also, on the obverse the stop between PRO and CON shows a break that runs into the C. The legend is in abbreviated Latin. It has been translated in the introduction to this section. This is a well struck example.

Provenance:  Acquired through the Robert H. Gore, Jr. Numismatic Endowment from the EANA auction of November 16, 1996, lot 392.
